Purpose: This
activity is a fun way for students to focus on the importance of
using sound to locate an object - in this case a fellow student. Class
Activity:
The class
(or group) stands in a circle, serving as a boundary for the
activity.
Two students are chosen to go inside the circle. One student is
blindfolded and another student moves around the circle making occasional
noises. The person that is blindfolded has to figure out where the sound
is coming from and try to touch the student that is moving around the
inside of the circle. The
students making up the circle need to be quiet. They also serve as a
gentle fence to keep the blindfolded student on track. If the
blindfolded student moves very close to the fence, he or she is gently
tapped on the shoulder by the student fence. Rotate
the students through the different roles, as time permits.
